Sedation (Sleep) Dentistry

What is Sedation (Sleep) Dentistry?

Sedation dentistry is ideal for patients who are having more invasive and complicated procedures done. It can even be beneficial to those who may be putting off oral surgery simply because they are afraid or anxious about what to expect. At all times in our office, the sedation that you receive is monitored. You should always have someone with you to bring you home when undergoing sedation.

Why is Sedation (Sleep) Dentistry needed?

Sedation is normally recommended for patients undergoing complicated or more invasive procedures and surgeries. You may request sedation at any time, especially if you feel nervous or scared about coming into the office for treatment. We will discuss your sedation options before you have any work done. We offer many different types of sedation to fit your needs while in our office.

What makes you a good candidate for Sedation (Sleep) Dentistry?

Sedation is administered to each individual patient on a level that suits them the best. You will be monitored at all times in our office when undergoing sedation. Most patients benefit from sleep dentistry simply because it helps them to stay calm when having more complicated surgeries performed. For patients who find it difficult to stay still in the dental chair, sedation is a viable option for improving the quality of your care.

What can you expect with Sedation (Sleep) Dentistry?

You will first come in for a consultation appointment to help us determine which type of sedation is right for you. We will then administer the sedation at your next appointment per your request. Sedation can help make your appointments with us more comfortable, since you’ll be unconscious or only semi-conscious during the procedure. You should always have a friend or relative with you so that they can bring you home after coming out of sedation. Even if you feel awake after the procedure, you should still avoid operating a vehicle for 24 to 48 hours.

If you are interested in sedation dentistry and would like to learn more about your options, call us today and we will work to get you in for an appointment at your earliest convenience.
