Dental Implant Placement

Dental implants, is the preferred treatment when replacing missing teeth that allows patients to maintain their natural quality of life. They also provide excellent support and stability if dental appliances are required such as a removable complete and partial dentures.

What are dental implants?

Dental implants are artificial root replacements made of titanium that can be surgically placed into the upper or lower jaw bone. During a minimally invasive surgical procedure, the implant post is inserted into the jaw bone. During the healing process, the implant post and the bone become integrated or fused together, similar to the relationship between a natural tooth root and the jawbone.

In general, the implant post will serve as an artificial or prosthetic tooth root which will be fitted with a dental crown, a multi-unit bridge, or even a denture. Dental implants are very strong, stable, and durable and expected to last many years. However, with certain patients, they may have to be replaced over time.

With the benefits of a secure integration between the implant post and surrounding bone, a dental implant becomes permanent (non-removable). The teeth attached to implants are very natural looking and improve a patient’s quality of life as well as their smile!

Reasons for dental implants:

  • Replace one or more missing teeth without affecting adjacent teeth
  • Resolve joint pain or bite problems caused by teeth shifting into missing tooth space
  • Restore a patient’s confident smile
  • Restore chewing, speech, and digestion
  • Restore or enhance facial tissues
  • Support a bridge or denture, making them more secure and comfortable
