Dr. Robert T. Wheeler


Dr. Wheeler received his undergraduate degree in Biology from the University of Southern California in 1974 and his D.D.S. degree from Northwestern University in 1978. He then spent a year in a hospital dentistry program at U.C. San Francisco. In 1982, Dr. Wheeler completed a 3-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the Long Beach VA Medical Center and University of California, Irvine Medical Center. Dr. Wheeler has been in private practice in the Saddleback Valley since 1983 and has merged with Orange County Centers for Oral Surgery & Dental Implants in 2017.

Memberships and Certifications

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a member of the American Dental Association, the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, and the American College of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons.

Hospital Privileges

He has been active on the volunteer teaching faculties of both U.C. Irvine Medical School and the Long Beach VA Medical Center.


Dr. Wheeler, along with enjoying dental surgery and Implantology, has a special interest in the correction of sleep apnea. He has taken extensive continuing education in this field and has lectured on this topic to dentists and physicians on numerous occasions.
